THE PHOEBE APPERSON HEARST EDUCATIONAL FUND

Preparing California to meet the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow

The current state of knowledge about California's rich and meaningful history is frankly lamentable. The California Historical Society (CHS) is uniquely positioned to change this. CHS is committed to inspiring, educating, and impacting the futures of K-12 school children in California in all school environments—public, private, charter, and home. We are honored to announce a bold new initiative, the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Educational Fund, which will enable the overarching growth of CHS's educational efforts and grow two key projects: National History Day-California and the Passport to Success program.

Phoebe Apperson Hearst dramatically transformed and expanded all levels of education in California and the nation, from kindergarten classrooms to the University of California. CHS wants to return to the boldness of her vision, the courage of her convictions, and the tirelessness of her advocacy and honor her vision by creating expanded top-quality educational programs open to all students.
