“Since moving to San Francisco, my wife and I have grown accustomed to walking up to North Beach on Sundays to have lunch at a table on the sidewalk at one of the local restaurants. We love the setting, the food, the friendship, and the hustle and bustle of life on and around Columbus Avenue. When the SIP order went into effect, all restaurants in North Beach closed, and we found ourselves unexpectedly depressed on Sundays, especially the nice warm ones. After putting it off for over a month we finally made the walk up there to see what it looked like. It was eerily quiet and rather sad. As we stood on the corner of Columbus and Vallejo, a lone cyclist pulled up and stopped at the light. There was no one else around. It was so unsettling that we turned around and went home. We miss our Sunday routine!”
“I missed my birthday celebration at our favorite little restaurant in North Beach. Last year the entire staff sang happy birthday to me, even cajoling some other customers to join in. This year we sat on the couch and watched TV. Not the same.”
