“During this pandemic, like many other families across the state & nation, our schools have closed for the remainder of the school year. I have 3 kids, a sophomore in high school, a second grader, and a kindergartner in a two way dual language program. My husband and I both work full time outside of the home…. Needless to say, trying to juggle being a parent, teacher, student, and employee during this time has been difficult. With no school, and no childcare, we’ve been trying to find ways to work around it. Luckily, I only have to go into the office twice a week. We try not to leave the house apart from working, only going to the stores for essential items. We take bike rides and walks around the neighborhood, but apart from that, I keep the kids at home. As stressful as everything is, I’ve been trying to cherish this time with my family right now. Even if the house is a mess, and dinner is sometimes takeout, we’re trying to make the best of it.”
“Last week, I found out I was pregnant, so that has changed a lot of things also. I had my first prenatal appointment on Friday and going into the medical offices was definitely a different experience. No one is allowed at the appointment except for the patient, when they did the ultrasound, they said I could FaceTime my husband. Before coming into the building, there is a hand washing station, and the nurses asked if I was experiencing any symptoms. After I said no, they cleared me, and told me to take a card to give to the receptionist to show that I was cleared and screened.”
