“I live with 5 housemates in a big Victorian house. The pandemic has brought many blessings: we work from home, we practice good hygiene and healthful exercise, we spruce up our personal and common spaces, we catch up on our reading—and each evening we gather for a sumptuous candlelit dinner accompanied by wines from our Napa farm. All this is enabled by the absence of FOMO (fear of missing out) because there’s nothing to tempt us out: no restaurants, no movies, no sports events, no wild parties…”
“We will have learned to live with less. For example, fewer meals in restaurants and more home cooking. Quite a few San Francisco restaurants will not reopen.”
