“Since my family works in health care, we were especially on edge during this time. Both my parents went to the hospital every day, and one even volunteered in the COVID unit. My stepdad is of old age and in his seventies now, and still went to the hospital every day. It was terrifying thinking about the reality that he could get sick any day and pass away like that. My stepbrother also works in emergency medicine in New York City, which is one the largest epicenters for COVID. It’s terrifying. My family friend and mom started a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for personal protection for health care workers called Operation Be Kind. They have raised over $15K for K95 masks to deliver to frontline workers all over Southern California.”
