“Prior to COVID, life was extremely fast for me in the city of Los Angeles. My airline job allowed me to travel frequently, which gave me the privilege of seeing culture on a global scale. This downtime we’ve had as a civilization during COVID-19 has been freedom for me, in my opinion. For the first time in a long time I feel my younger self going through the motions of my youth. I spend a lot of time exploring as I did when I was young. As a kid I remember paying attention to the simplicity of things, the trees bristling in the wind, the roly–polies I would collect, the birds soaring through the air. Throughout this time I’ve reflected on my thoughts, actions, and behaviors. I gained inspiration through historical events that uplifted prior generations. I often reflect on the history I would leave behind to future generations to come. I see others frightened by the misfortune across the globe. I revert back to a verse Franklin D. Roosevelt stated: ‘Where there is no vision the people perish.’ “
“I’ve learned patience throughout quarantine. I’ve learned to control my thoughts by being aware of my words and tone. I’m extremely grateful for the education I obtained, as it has taught me to act out of wisdom and knowledge rather than ignorance.”
