Major Gifts Officer

The California Historical Society is seeking dynamic candidates for the position of Major Gifts Officer. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for creating and executing a major gifts strategy; establishing and strengthening  relationships with current and prospective donors including individuals, foundations, and corporations; collaboration with other staff members on fulfilling the organization’s fundraising goals; and engaging with CHS staff and Board members to promote the organization’s culture of philanthropy.  To learn more about the position, click here.

Volunteer Opportunities

The California Historical Society engages a wide audience and we depend upon the generous assistance of volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the educational programs and public events we offer to members, historians, neighbors, and the general public. Internships

The California Historical Society does not currently have a regular internship program. Individuals interested in pursuing possible internship opportunities with the California Historical Society may contact info@calhist.org and should please include the following:

  • A resume (please limit to no more than two pages); and
  • A cover letter explaining your area(s) of study; your availability; the specific educational goal(s) you wish to achieve; and the requirements for your sponsoring institution (if any).
